GNTC Foundation awards Gene Haas Scholarships for fall 2025 term

Jesse Nicholson, a Calhoun resident, and Mayahuel Yaoapoqa, a Menlo resident, have received the Gene Haas Scholarship, which rewards academic excellence and provides financial support for students working toward a degree, diploma or certificate in the Precision Machining and Manufacturing program.

The GNTC Foundation has announced that GNTC’s Board of Trustees has been named a 2025 Role Model Board by the Technical College Foundation Association of Georgia. This year marks the fourth consecutive year that the GNTC Foundation has received this honor.

GNTC names Jake Broome associate vice president of Administrative Services

GNTC has named Jake Broome associate vice president of Administrative Services. His responsibilities include preparation and oversight of the financial, budget, purchasing and administrative operations at GNTC; directing the acquisition, tagging and surplus disposal processes of the college’s asset inventory; overseeing student accounts; and overseeing the administration and maintenance of the college’s vehicle fleet.

GNTC awards 2025 Judge Dan Peace Winn Scholarships

The Judge Dan Peace Winn Scholarship supports Polk County residents or those with a connection to Polk County, who are completing a degree, diploma or certificate at GNTC. The scholarship was established by the family of the late judge who passed away in 2016 at age 94.

Student manuals donated to GNTC’s Commercial Truck Driving program

GNTC has received a donation of 32 student manuals for its Commercial Truck Driving – Class A program. J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. recently notified the GNTC Foundation that it would make a one-time donation of 32 copies of its “Entry-Level Driver Training Obtaining a CDL Student Manual” to the college.

GNTC awards 2025 Octaviano and Bertha Perez Scholarships

The Foundation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has announced the first recipients of the new Octaviano and Bertha Perez Scholarship. Jesus Arellano and Jackson Woodard—both students in Construction Management at GNTC’s Gordon County Campus in Calhoun—received the scholarship for the fall 2025 semester.

GNTC to host Fall Mum Sale, Sept. 15-18, 2025

The Horticulture program at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) will hold a Fall Mum Sale Monday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Sept. 18, outside of Building L, located across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus in Rome. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday or until plants sell out.

GNTC Foundation awards Selena Magnusson memorial scholarships

Selena’s Scholarship honors the late Selena Magnusson, who was GNTC’s vice-president of Institutional Effectiveness and Student Success. A Chickamauga resident, Magnusson was employed at GNTC for 26 years in a variety of roles. She passed away June 6, 2024.

A GNTC graduate is moving up at Chick-fil-A Supply after earning an associate degree in Supply Chain Management and Logistics. Grant Davis said he became interested in business operations and supply chains because he enjoyed problem solving and driving for results.
