GNTC’s Greenwell is State EAGLE Award regional finalist
Erika Ambrocio Greenwell, winner of Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s EAGLE Award for 2024, was selected as a regional finalist for the State EAGLE Award by the Technical College System of Georgia.
The winner of the state award will be announced during the Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Leadership Institute state competition, which will be held March 25-27 at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia. The Leadership Institute recognizes and honors students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs.
A resident of Silver Creek, Greenwell completed her GED® diploma through GNTC in September 2023 and has completed the Certified Logistics Associate certificate through the Training on the Go program. Born in California, she said she faced challenges while living in Mexico before she moved back to the United States.
“I chose GNTC because it offers practical, hands-on training that aligns with my goal of gaining real-world skills and knowledge to better my future,” she said. “With my High School Equivalency (HSE) as a stepping stone, I aim to build a stable and rewarding career in the USA.”
Her next career goal is to further her education, “potentially attending college or specialized courses to gain in-depth knowledge and skills in my chosen field,” Greenwell said.
Greenwell said she hopes to inspire and support others “who face challenges in their educational and personal journeys.”
“My father instilled in me the value of hard work and perseverance, always emphasizing that we need to work hard for what we want and that we can achieve more with dedication,” Greenwell said.
Karen Craven, lead teacher and site manager for Adult Education in Floyd County, nominated Greenwell for the EAGLE award. Craven was selected as GNTC’s 2024 Adult Education Teacher of the Year for 2024.
EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs.
