Hundreds of area high school students attend Transition Fair at GNTC
Hundreds of area high school students attended the Floyd County Interagency Transition Fair on Friday, Nov. 9, at Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) Floyd County Campus in Rome.
The event, sponsored by Floyd County Schools, was held for students to learn more about the different academic programs and services the college has to offer and other options for life after high school.
Students from Armuchee High School, Coosa High School, Model High School and Pepperell High school came to the Conference Center in Building H to interact with GNTC faculty and staff. Additional representatives from other area colleges and personnel from various businesses and healthcare facilities were there to offer resources for students transferring from K-12 to work or post-secondary education.
GNTC academic program representatives included instructors from Electrical Systems Technology, Computer Information Systems, Horticulture, Industrial Systems Technologies, Medical Assisting and the Youth Success Academy.
GNTC staff was also on hand to provide information about admissions, academic support, accessibility services, student life and additional student services.
There also were representatives and vendors from CareSource; Chattahoochee Technical College; Developing Independent Growth and Security (DIGS), Inc.; Georgia Advocacy Office; Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities; Georgia Highlands College; Project Search; Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation; Highland Rivers Center; Lutheran Services of Georgia; Network Day Services; Parent to Parent; Regions Bank; Shorter University and more.
Georgia Northwestern Technical College provides quality workforce education to the citizens of Northwest Georgia. Students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree, diploma, or a certificate in business, health, industrial, or public service career paths. This past year, 16,402 people benefited from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs. With an annual credit enrollment of 7,750 students, GNTC is the largest college in Northwest Georgia. GNTC has an additional enrollment of 8,652 people through adult education, continuing education, business and industry training, and Georgia Quick Start.
